    Born in Agra, Uttar Pradesh on 28th July 1966. I did BVSC & AH from Veterinary College, Mathura, UP, MVSc, PhD in Veterinary Immunology from ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar, PGD-TMA from University of Hyderabad-NAARM and Post Doc from University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA. In the service spanning 32 years in ICAR in various capacities, presently as Director, ICAR-NRC on Pig, Guwahati since 19.01.2021, Joint Director (CADRAD), ICAR-IVRI, Izatnagar from 2015-2021 and a Scientist of Veterinary Microbiology in ICAR-ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Goats, Makhdoom. I worked in a variety of ways to protect and improve the health of our nation's livestock (especially small ruminants and pigs), serving animal science. I have published more than 200 research papers, 28 lead papers, authored/co-authored 07 books/manuals, many popular articles. Steered 01 AICRP on Pig and 02 All India Network programmes 1. Bluetongue and 2. Haemorrhagic septicaemia as Project Coordinator. Handled about 30 research projects, developed 19 technologies, 03 are commercialized, granted 04 patents, 02 Trademarks, 01 copyright, 02 designs, guided 05 Ph.Ds., 06 M.V.Sc/M.Sc students. Acted as referee for more than 07 International and 06 National peer reviewed journals. Served as member of scientist selection boards of SAUs and ICMR, acted as examiner for 06 educational institutions for academic activities. Participated in many committees of National Importance as Chairman and Member, conducted national level examinations for ASRB and has been recognized as Fellow of National Academy of Veterinary Sciences, and IAVMI. I have contributed for institutional and livestock sector development through infrastructure creation, research projects, linkage strengthening, startup/FPOs creation, incubation support, human resource development and policy support of state government and GoI.

Technologies Developed:

  1. Bruchek: A Dot Elisa Kit for detection of Brucellosis in goats and sheep.
  2. BRULISA: A plate ELISA kit for early detection of brucellosis in goats and sheep.
  3. Developed health technology (Annual Preventive Goat health calendar) for prevention of goat diseases.
  4. PCR based kit for brucellosis in goats and sheep.
  5. PCR-RFLP for molecular typing of Brucella strains from Goats.
  6. Multiplex Amplification Refractory Mutation System PCR (ARMS-PCR) for canine parvovirus identification.
  7. Polymerase spiral reaction (PSR): novel, visual isothermal amplification method for detection of canine parvovirus 2 genomic DNA.
  8. Polymerase Spiral Reaction test for rapid visual detection of Bovine Herpesvirus 1.
  9. Development of a gold nanoparticle-based test for the detection of canine parvovirus.
  10. S-ELISA and I-ELISA kit for detection of Bluetongue virus.
  11. The pentavalent BT vaccine containing 1, 2, 10, 16 and 23 serotypes developed under AINP-BT.
  12. Herbal anti-diarrheal powder and Skin antiseptic gel for animals.
  13. Development of repository of BT virus with 82 isolates of different serotypes.
  14. A repository of 74 isolates of P. multocida, recovered from different geographical locations of the country.
  15. Development of kits for diagnosis of major diseases of pigs (PRRS, ASF, PCV2, PPV and CSF).

Technologies Commercialized:

  1. Herbal antidiarrheal powder for animals. Transferred to M/s Giriraj Industry, Sirsaganj, Product commercialized in Market with brand name “Diarrionex-HS” powder (Patent Granted number: 327196).
  2. Herbal Skin antiseptic Gel for animals. Transferred to M/s Giriraj Industry, Sirsaganj Product commercialized in Market with brand name “HEALEX-FR gel” powder (Patent Granted number:340760).
  3. The pentavalent BT vaccine technology transferred to four companies: 1. Indian Immunologicals, Hyderabad, 2. Biovet Ltd, Bengaluru, 3. Sunvita Pharma, Hyderabad, 4. Brilliant Biopharma, Hyderabad.
