DR. D.K SARMA (2013-2017)
Dr. Dilip Kumar Sarma received his B.V.Sc &A.H. Degree from Assam Agricultural University in 1978 securing first class first position. He did his M.V.Sc and Ph.D degrees in Veterinary Bacteriology and Virology from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, India in 1981 and 1987 respectively. He had one year post doctoral research training at the AFRC Institute for Animal Health, Pirbright Laboratory, Surrey, U.K. under Commonwealth Govt. Scholarship. He has worked as Lecturer, Asstt. Professor, Virologist and as a Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Assam Agricultural University, Khanapara, Guwahati, since 2004. He has received the National Fellow Award of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, India to work in a project on Classical swine fever and he has been working in the project since 2005. He has guided four Ph.D students, published two textbooks and 165 research papers in the National and International Journals and several popular scientific articles. He has independently completed two externally funded research projects and associated with three research projects. He has received the Assam Agricultural University Gold Medal for securing first position in B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree. He is the fellow of the National Academy of Veterinary Sciences since 2004, Member on the New York Academy of Sciences, life member of several scientific organizations and associate Editor of the Indian Journal of Virology. He has developed a cell culture attenuated vaccine for classical swine fever and validated diagnostic tests for the disease. His field of interest is in veterinary virology particularly on development of diagnostics and vaccine against important viral diseases of livestock.

Dr. KAMAL MALLA BUJARBARUAH (2002-2006) Officer on Special Duty
Dr.
KAMAL MALLA BUJARBARUAH obtained his bachelor and masters degrees in Veterinary
Sciences with Distinction followed by Ph.D degree in the Discipline of Animal
Reproduction from Assam Agricultural University. Dr. Bujarbaruah joined in ICAR
service in the year 1976 as Senior Research Assistant at ICAR Research Complex,
Barapani, Shillong, was selected in Agricultural Research Service in 1977. Dr.
Bujarbaruah, presently holding the post of Vice-Chancellor, Assam Agricultral
University, Jorhat and has previously served the ICAR as Deputy Director General
(Animal Sciences), Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH region, OSD, NRC on
Pig, Director, NRC on Mithun and Joint Director, ICAR RC for NEH region, Nagaland
centre. Dr. Bujarbaruah has published 112 research papers, 05 books, 21
research Bulletins besides a number of popular articles and scientific abstracts.
In recognition of his work, Dr Bujarbaruah received Fakhrruddin Ali Ahmed award,
Distinguished Veterinarian of the country award, Jewel of Sikkim award and also
received Best Annual report award of the country for his institute. Dr. Bujarbaruah
also has organized a number of national and International seminars very successfully
in the remote part of the country besides arranging a number of developments meet
for the benefit of the agriculture in NE region.
